Program Information

The goal of the Pierce County Noxious Weed Control Board is to reduce the harmful effects that invasive noxious weeds have on our community and to promote responsible weed management.

In compliance with Washington State Noxious Weed Laws, the Noxious Weed Control Board has established a comprehensive program of noxious weed control based on two key components:

EDUCATION/OUTREACH

  • Informational literature, educational workshops, technical recommendations, and community outreach, are provided to the citizens of Pierce County relating to noxious weed identification, control, and the potential impact on agricultural interests, native ecosystems, recreational areas, native habitats and the public in general.

TECHNICAL CONSULTATION

  • County and private lands are surveyed throughout the weed season by Licensed Field Inspectors, to identify noxious weed infestations. Appropriate landowners or community municipalities are then notified and a plan is established to achieve weed control in compliance with the state requirements as mandated in RCW 17.10.
